Automated Category Import

in addition to 'product' automation which I understand is planned for April, to truly be automated, there should be the facility of also automating the categories... The assumption is that categories would not changed, but there are businesses like ours that have the categories change dynamically, and or hiding/un-hiding categories, and having to do that manually defeats the entire purposes of automating the products without the ability to also automate the categories. It was not part of X-Cart.. sure hope as you are programming the product automation for Woo Commerce you will also automate the category import.

Hello Albero!
According to wooCommerce Store Manager:
in our next plans (Releases)
stage 1 - Shipping support, orders (creation, modification), POS
stage 2 - Addons: first addon is Automated Product Import Addon - I guess, this Addon solves your needs :-)

Thank you Sergiy...

I am not sure that it will 'solve' my needs... as currently in the storemanager for xcart we have the automated product import, but it does NOT include the category import of these products... thus my comment above... I am requesting that 'all' imports are automated. ie, categories AND products... Hope this makes sense.

Hello Albero!
I'm talking about Creation of categories through products Import. See screenshot - import-categories.png
You are talking about separate categories import ( see example from X-Cart) - screenshot - X-cart-categories-import.png

Correct Sergiy, In Xcart the 'automated' process for imports allows for automating products only. So in that automation. I first import products and then I import pictures. But I can't import categories. I forget the reason. but import categories needs to be a separate process.. Is that the case with Woocomerce import and if so.. will we be able to import categories in an automated way rather than just manually.

Thanks,

Alberto

Thanks for explanation, Alberto.
But I can't understand, why do you need Automated Category import ?
It's clear for me to import products every day, But why do you need to import categories on regular base ?
As a usual, Store owner creates categories one time (during the Store Creation).
Please explain.

Sergiy,

We buy and sell used equipment. our categories are constantly changing. We are activating and deactivating categories that do not have any products in them so that our customer are not overwhelmed with a bunch of empty categories. You are assuming everyone is going to set up their categories once because they have 20-50 categories and that is it... That is not everyone, and for sure not us. I sure hope you can take care of all your clients needs, not just those that set up their categories once and don't need to update them very often after that. The Auto import of products without the ability of automating the categories, really defeats the purpose of why you have the automated product import. And really how hard can it me to add this functionality to serve your customers?

Thank you

Alberto

Great news. Thanks sooo much! I guess the next order of business is the SEO sync... in Xcart Storemanager, you synced with CDSO.. The top one for Woo Commerce is Yoast... any plans to integrate with that one? The reason I ask of course is because SEO is paramount to any commercial web site.. and automating SEO is critical... Their web site is: https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/yoast-woocommerce-seo/ Any plans on syncing the databases?

Yaast plugin support for WooCommerce Store Manager in our to-do list.
For a while - feel free to add new features for this implementation. :-)
Alberto, it's better to add your comments to the separate Feature Request for Yoast - https://support.emagicone.com/050354-SEO-integration-a-MUST-just-like-with-Xcart-Storemanager.
In this case we'll be able to collect new suggestion and comments for future implementation.
