Bug with "reindex list"

Hi,

I like to work with the option of "automatically reindex modified products" disabled because usually I add batches of products, then I repass them one by one and when I am sure everything is correct I index them, with the option enabled I lose time with the indexing after every change. However, I am having an issue with the "reindex list" notification on the bottom right corner. This is how to reproduce:

1. Make sure the automatic option is disabled.
2. Add some new products
3. The corner notification is correct and shows X products must be reindexed, but DO NOT reindex them.
4. Close the program.
5. Open the program again, now the corner says "reindex list is empty" (but the products we added are not indexed!!).

Hello Yosh!
This is very interesting theme.
From one side - you are right - it's better to view status of re-indexed products
But from orher side it's not so easy to store correctly info for 200 000 or 500 000 products modification ans save level of performance.
In this case the simple dision here - to inform customer about process.

By the way, right now you can control Re-index process in the left top corner of menu - see screenshots

So maybe we should get a notification when we are going to close the program saying there are products that are not indexed?

Hi guys,

I can confirm that we experience the same issue so this is most likely a bug.

This is the procedure:

1. We browse to certain product in Store Manager.
2. Add some info in description field and save the changes.
3. Store Manager shows notification that 1 product needs to be re-indexed in the right lower corner of the screen.
4. Then we close the Store Manager or due to some problem it crashes during the day.
5. We re-open Store Manager.
6. Red notification is not present anymore even though that product is not being re-indexed.

Although changes made to that product are visible on the website, changes are not present in index as SM is not showing that notification.

Using rebuild entire index in order to get that one product re-indexed is not acceptable. As you already know Sergiy, we have issues with our index and process takes more then 10h now...

Also "automatically re-index modified products" is disabled on our SM as well as Mr. Volodymyr said it would speed things up.

Btw, I also didnt understand your last question Sergiy. Would you please explain further?

Thank you
Dean

Here it is example:
you have 300 000 products.
20 000 products were changed.
In this case we have to store products ids and control them before reindex.
We need to monitor each products and to update Red line every time after modification. This is time consuming operation and this option reduce program productivity.

There is another variant - we can show something like this "There are some products need to be reindexed" . User can re-index products
Well, in our future plans to optimize indexing process in Store Manager.
I guess it'll be in 2015.

Its fine if SM would prompt some msg before it closes.

This way user doesn't know what is going on right?

Great :)

Thank you Sergiy for taking time and effort to listen to your customers.

This is one of the best experiences I had with any software we use in everyday business. :)

Keep up the good work.

Hi, I just noticed an issue related to this so I thought I would just add it to this thread instead of opening a new one:

- When you import products with the "automatically reindex imported products" unchecked, after import the bottom right corner does not say there are products that need to be reindex... but imported products have not been reindexed.

Hello Yosh!
Thanks for comment.
About Red marker in the right bottom corner of Store Manager (re-index text):

When you ticked Auo-reindex option - you'll be able to monitor re-index process (see progress bar). see - import-index.png
It doesn't calculate the number of re-indexed products as Import procedure with FTP uploading when checkbox Re-index was removed.
All you need in this case to click on red label to start re-index.
This red market was not demonstrated in this beta - see import-index2.png
Confirmed. This issue was corrected 2 hours ago... I hope you'll be able to see it in the next release.

ok. thanks
I remember about notification re-index info.
I'm afraid will not be able to implement in this Release.
It seems that this task was moved because or another major tasks. :-(
PrestaShop cloud support, Amazon Integration Addon in commercial Release will be in this spring.
From my side I'll try to open this request again.
