Hello again!
You are right - 100%
so this task was added in our to-do list.
Please contact us in January 2016.
I'll try to discuss the ability of implementation with our development team.

Hm... The implementation of this feature will be available in 2016 only, I'm afraid.
Right now we have scheduled plan until Dec 29 - see our Road map - https://www.prestashopmanager.com/store-manager-for-prestashop-roadmap/
I've got meeting with our development team about category search. This is reasonable suggestion. You are right.

Draft version of categories search will be like AIMP4 music files search - something like this. This is not a final variant. We'll discuss the ability one more.
This is "must have" tool for categories.
Here it is example - screenshot of AIMP4 search result
Hello, I would even suggest a quick filter on the left column where you see the Categories tree.. ;-)
the filter should show only the matched categories tree expanded
eg. you search "Toners" ....
it should show the tree Home|Cat1|Cat2|Toners expanded and positioned...
if more results it could show all the matched trees...
hope this helps

and, so..when you empty the search field it shows the entire tree, instead... easy and fast
