Good news for you, you don't need to wait for implementation of your suggestion.
Because those features already has been implemented in Store Manager. :-)
Var. 1. Data Snapshot - when you tick on this option you can easy identify changes after Automated import - see screenshots
pic 1 , pic 2
Var. 2 - You can filter column Date Add in Product Grid. - see pic 4 In this case you can filter products with current date.
Don't forget to switch column on in the list of column - see pic 3
