Hi,

I have been trying to do a bulk update for one attribute on about 7,000 products.
Out of those 7k many have not been updated. The error msg is as follows:

"Some products have not been updated, since the attribute set, they belong to, differs from that of main product. Main product is the product that is currenlty focused"

After further investigation I noticed that the products that didn't update, have had their attribute sets changed in the past.
I initially imported all products as attribute set "Default", then I search for certain criteria within the imported products. Once some product meet my criteria, I bulk update their attribute set. It seems somehow this created an issue with the main / child product. These are all simple products, I'm not sure how this issue happened or how it can be fixed.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello Mordy,

Thank you for your reply.

Actually, issue that you have faced is related to 'Attribute set' for the products that you selected for update. Bulk changes could be made only for products that are assigned to the same attribute set. If your products are assigned to different attribute sets, you need to sort products out and update them by parts.

Hi Ira,

OK.
So I cannot update a bulk of products with mixed attribute sets (e.g. 'Default' and 'custom-att-set') even if they have a common attribute (e.g. 'brand')?

What about price updates? I believe these can be done in bulk even if the attribute sets are different within the bulk group?

Thank you.

Hello Mordy,

Thank you for your reply.

Actually no, you can not update common attributes (price, etc.) for different attribute sets at once - you need to sort out products by attribute set and select only products assigned to the same attribute set to be able to update them in bulk.
Please note, that this limit was added doe to the different set of attributes for each Attribute set.
