is it possible to import custmer passwords from plain test, or this there a way to convert plan text passwords to password hash?

I am moving from a different cart to magento and have my customer database in excel and passwords are in plain text, how can I import them into Magento via store manager or other means

Hello Blain!
Thanks for proposal.
Please, take into account, it's not safe to store user's passwords without encryption.
We don't plan to support such feature.

I know, I don't want to KEEP them in plain text in Magento, I'm trying to IMPORT them into magento FROM another cart that stored them in plain text

There has to be a way to do this somehow, I don't want to make 20,000 customers make a new account just because we are moving to magento!

We are planning to discuss your proposal. You're right, this is a useful feature of the program. I will promote the implementation of your proposal.
I can clarify implementation date after discussion.

Did you guys ever come up with a solution to import customers into magento where we do not have a password hash, only a plain test password (From old cart system)

I found this article, but I'm not technical, having
http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/413035/

Having a simple way to import customers into your program, then have it convert plain text password imported into a password_hash for upload to magento would be great
