A very useful feature, the column with price with discount which is already implemented in prestashop backend. This way we can see the final prices of our products at a glance.

You are right - this field was added in PrestaShop Backend.
From the start we've field Final Price. After that it was renamed as Price with tax.
The Final Price field, in this case, should have special rules for discounts and taxes.
From my side I'll try to add this task to our to-do list and discuss with develop. team..

In this case, we can't guarantee, that product price will show real Final price.

Isn't a simpler way to calculate the final price by just copying the code from Prestashop's backend?
Another suggestion is, even though there can exist multiple price rules, the program can search only for the default one (no time,country,group,currency etc. rules). I think that many people just want to have a default price rule for discount.

Yes, you are right.
Honestly, we've changed Final price rule 2-3 times.
It seems every person wants to get a special dedicated rule for this calculation.
In this case, it's better to add some ready to use rules (default, custom, custom 2 etc,)

From what I have understood, while working in Prestashop backend, what we see in product list is the final price with the default rule for discount, except if there is a second price rule inside specific dates (that includes today) that overrides the default one.
It does not take account of rules for group, country or currency.
