Automatic email to customer when order status changes

So our Magento dashboard is not equipped with a way of manually changing order status (From “pending” to “processing” for instance). But Magento dashboard has a nice feature of adding a comment and sending an email to a customer.

We have eMagicOne store manager, that can manually change order status, but doesn’t email the customer of the change.

We would like to be able to automatically send an email to the customer every time the order status changes.
If the order could change color depending on the order status, that could be nice too.
