The SOCKS5 protocol can provide an all-around proxy server, which means that you have more flexibility to chose how you communicate with vendors. Transmission speed of download and upload is much better. SOCKS5 combines TCP and UDP protocols, making data transmission both fast and reliable. Improves security by providing authentication for protocols that cannot be authenticated. Most popular browsers support SOCKS5 for their user's proxy server needs. I use a private SOCKS5 proxy server to maintain a static IP that is required to access some of my vendor's servers. The proxy server allows me to have access to my vendors from anywhere.
