Royal Mail API - Essential For UK users Of Zencart

Hi

There is now a requirement for ALL mail sent through the Royal Mail network as from October to include a unique barcode on every single parcel to allow royal mail to track the item in the network which ultimately lets the end customer know when there parcel is due for delivery.

Royal Mail offer API integration but it requires hooking onto Zencart. I would like to integrate royal mail api into zencart which would add the barcode onto the parcel packing slip. Currently we use zencart manager to generate the slip so this would need to be integrated as well as PHP/XML scripts to be installed as a plugin.

I would really suggest offering a plugin I've been quoted 15 days work to create this addon at £5,000 but I think it would be useful to all uk customers of zen so wondering if you can offer as a new module... it will certainly maintain the zencart community in the UK otherwise people may switch to Magento. This is a massive opportunity for you as the uptake would be huge, we all need it or we can't send parcels!

Please can you let me know if this is going to be possible.

Thanks
Andy

Thanks for suggestion, Andy!
As a quick decision - we'll be able to provide the following:
If you have Royal Mail extenstion - we'll be able to read special fields and print in the Custom report.

what fields do you want to include in report ?

One more thing - could you provide what label and info do you want to get, when customer invoice will be ready for delivery?

Hi Sergiy

Many thanks for your reply.

I am currently speaking to Royal Mail regarding this. Is it possible to amend our custom packing slip to include the order number to be represented as a barcode which we can then scan? This would then be used to trigger the API as the first step in the process?

Kind Regards
Andy
